Basingstoke - Old Basing
University of the Third Age
Registered charity no: 1086263
As you will have read elsewhere on this site Basingstoke - Old Basing U3A was started in 1998 and since then has grown its membership to well over 800. We continue to welcome new members each month.
If you feel any of the activities you have browsed on this web site are something you would like to get involved in, or you would like to introduce something new, then perhaps you are considering joining us too. If so, read on!
Membership is open to anyone who is retired or semi-retired. There is no lower age limited.
From the start of the academic year 2019/20 until further notice, Individual membership fees are £40 per oerson per year (1st of September to the 31st of August). The fee in your first year is reduced by 50% (to £7.50) if you join after the end of February. There are no fees for attending group activities. There are also Joint membership classes at the same fee per person. This class is open to 2 members living at the same address and having the same surname (HMRC rules) and allows us to claim a Gift Aid contribution from HMRC if either member is a taxpayer or, of course, if both are. The application form has full details of all membership classes.
We invite prospective members to come along to a monthly meeting in the Elizabeth Hall, Hook. These are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 2.00pm. At these meetings we review and update the membership with individual group news and normally have an external speaker on a topic of general interest. Attendance provides an insight into our organisation and gives prospective members the chance to see if what we offer is what they would be interested in. There is no obligation to join until they have had a good look at us!!
